8/18/2009 -
Hamilton Township Councilmen Tom Goodwin, Dave Kenny and Dennis Pone asked Mayor John Bencivengo to apply to the State of New Jersey for Extraordinary Aid during the Hamilton Township Council meeting on Tuesday evening.
"Over the past year and a half, we have worked to fix the massive financial issues that were left to the taxpayers of Hamilton Township. If there is any community that is deserving of Extraordinary Aid from the State, it's Hamilton Township," said Councilman Dennis Pone.
"Two year's ago, the former Mayor did not submit a budget on time and it cost the taxpayers of Hamilton Township. The result was an inability to receive Extraordinary Aid because of State rules. Now that we are introducing a budget on time, we are asking for the Extraordinary Aid that the taxpayers of Hamilton deserve," said Councilman Dave Kenny.
"On Council, we have continued to implement measures to restore fiscal responsibility. Asking the State for Extraordinary Aid is the responsible thing to do. I hope that the State of New Jersey will also do the responsible thing and award our community Extraordinary Aid, for the benefit of our taxpayers," said Councilman Tom Goodwin. |
